Filtration Technologies
Minntech’s unique non-glycerin coated polysulfone
hollow fiber technology is the core component of a
wide range of filter applications. Manufactured with
a patented process using hydrophilic polymers
combined with a naturally hydrophobic polysulfone
polymer, the sponge-like structure of the fiber walls
and inherent biocompatibility make it ideal for either
medical therapies or process filtration.
Minntech has biocompatibility testing data on file using the extractable-free hollow fibers. These
fibers were tested per ISO 10993-4 blood contact
requirements and are currently used in filter
products with US FDA 510(k) clearance to market
as a medical device.
Comprehensive test procedures confirm filter performance.
Some fibers are verified for pore size claims using latex
beads, and those with endotoxin rejection claims are tested
for endotoxin removal. Blood or plasma filtration fibers are
verified for molecular weight cutoff by using bovine protein.
In addition to polysulfone, Minntech owns other patented
polymers in a large range of pore sizes and molecular
weight cutoffs. The development team is also pursuing new
polymers for incorporation into our hollow fiber technology.

Sterilants/Disinfectants
Minntech’s chemical manufacturing
facilities produce a variety of formulations
based upon a proprietary peracetic
acid (PAA) model. PAA formulations are
completely formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde
free. They enable state-of-the-art
sterilization and disinfection.
